I think they took a page out of the Cloutier playbook: Even talking about Penner in Edmonton gets everyone riled up.

I'd agree - I might even put Mason Raymond ahead of Penner in terms of acquisitions, although I'd rather give MPS the 2nd line minutes than Raymond.

I think if we're getting a less than ideal top 6er, his selling point should be defensive skill and toughness as opposed to offensive skill.

penner's still a great 3rd liner n a good possession player. If EDM could get him from 1.5-2.25M for a year or two I'd do that. Better than Raymond n Jones.

Still need to fill that 2LW though

Penner is free people... If we are not doing a bold trade and not wanting to give something up then why not sign him??? give him a 1 year deal or even 2 - not the end of the world... if people were talking about turnover machine Gilbert- then Penner should get mentioned too...

Forget the absurd Oiler rumors and lets revisit an older one regarding Stewart from the blues. I can not help but think Armstrong has painted himself into a corner with his cap space issues.
He says he will match any offer from teams making a play oh his two prized RFA'a ( Piets and Stewart) . If Stewart was offered 6M and Piets 6.5 he would need to dis-mantle his roster to accommodate signing both players.

Lets see if Philly will go after Piets with an offer sheet and then we can make a play for Stewart!

Sounds like Marchand might be bit of an issue like Seguin, but what the hell happens when a division rival gets him?

So st louis has about 7 3/4 million dollars to sign Stewart , Petro and Allen. There is now way they are getting all 3 with that much cap room. I would be willing to give Petro a offer sheet of 7 years 52.5 million or maybe even 56 million. He's a franchaise d man and worth every penny.

what do we give in order to get??? I would think he is exactly what we need- if he is not a headcase in the locker room- further marchand delivers on the ice- actually likely exceeds expectations- something segin has yet to fill billing...

AND?! wow ok... the above package at least would of made sense for just Hall (no EDM shouldn't do it). But gags too?

Anyway I haven't figured out why a trade hasn't gone down yet between EDM and NYR. We have too many Dmen and need forwards and you need the opposite. Makes for good trading partners. Pretty much the only Dmen we wouldn't deal is Mac and Girardi. A trade between teams just makes too much sense.
